E-nnovate Working Group at the IACR
The IACR conference, held in Granda, Spain from 12 – 16 November 2023, gave an opportunity for members of the E-NNOVATE project working group that were present to meet in-person and to discuss key updates.
The E-NNOVATE project, Electronic Innovations in Cancer Registration, aims to assist registries by exploring the use of electronic medical records in cancer registries. The DHIS2 module developed in Rwanda is being implemented across the country. In addition, enhancements to include the IARC Edit Checks for data quality have now been incorporated. The DHIS2 Cancer Module team from Rwanda recently hosted visits from colleagues in Mozambique and Zimbabwe to conduct knowledge transfer sessions as those countries look to integrate the data collection tool into their respective cancer registries.
The IARC Caribbean Hub, hosted by the Caribbean Public Health Agency, has implemented the DHIS2 Cancer Module for testing. With funding from Vital Strategies / Bloomberg Philanthropies, the IARC Hub has also started a project with the Jamaican Ministry of Health to study the setup and rollout of the module.
Updates from Rwanda and the Caribbean were presented as part of the IACR Conference. Results from all sites will be used to create resources that accompany the global release to help make it easier for other countries that plan to use the DHIS2 Cancer Module.
