GICR Work and Activities during COVID-19
GICR is actively involved in the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC)'s participation in the global COVID-19 and Cancer Taskforce. The task force formed to coordinate efforts to synthesize and rapidly disseminate data on how the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic is affecting cancer outcomes worldwide (more information here) .
One of the first activities of initiative is the survey of population-based cancer registries worldwide (also coordinated with the International Association of Cancer Registries (IACR). The aim of the survey is to assess the short-term and longer-term impacts of the pandemic on registry operations and subsequent data dissemination in different settings. Follow-up surveys are planned to assess the longer-term impact of COVID-19.
